Bespoke C License Course Kicks off This Weekend
Scottish Women’s Football (SWF) are delighted to announce that a bespoke C Licence course for the female game will get underway later this month thanks to support from the Scottish Football Partnership (SFP) and Scottish Football Association (SFA).
The course will commence on Saturday 27th February, at Toryglen Regional Football Centre with 30 coaches participating. Working in partnership, the course has been substantially subsidised by SWF and the SFA to encourage coaches working within the girls’ and women’s game to develop their coaching skills in alignment with the SWF’s strategic objectives and the SFA’s One National Plan. Thanks to funding support from the Scottish Football Partnership (SFP), SWF were able to subsidise 20 places on the highly sought after course which has been specifically scheduled around the female season with the SFA funding a further 10 places.
This 30-hour course is designed for coaches working with youth and adult players (age 13+) and provides a recognised qualification. The course comprises three practical components;
- Conducting a Training Session
- Shaping a Team
- Individual Programme
SWF Chairperson Gilbert Valentine commented, “We are delighted that there has been such a great response to the course and are very grateful to the Scottish Football Partnership whose funding has allowed us to offer a significant discount to our members. It re-affirms our commitment to retaining and developing quality coaches in the girls’ and women’s game and it is great to see clubs from across all regions in the country represented on the course. The SFA’s support in terms of both additional funding and co-ordination has been invaluable and we are delighted to work in partnership with them to develop the girls’ and women’s game.”
Karen McConnell, Girls’ and Women’s Club Development Offer for South East Region also commented, “The bespoke C Licence course for Coaches in the girls’ and women’s game is a great example of partnership working between SWF and the Scottish FA with a direct benefit to our clubs, coaches and players. Volunteers give so much of their time to provide opportunities for girls and women to play the game, so it’s really exciting to be able to support so many coaches from across the country to continue their development and take that back to the players at their clubs.”
