Hibernian Ladies secured an important three points against Celtic on Sunday with a hard-fought 3-2 win at Albyn Park.
Chris Roberts’ side started strongly – Abi Harrison had an effort ruled out for offside after only two minutes, and Lucy Graham headed over a minute later.
The early pressure paid off after 25 minutes – Harrison’s deep whipped cross converted by the head of Lizzie Arnot.
Hibs doubled their lead moments later. Goalscorer turned provider – Arnot threading a throughball to Kirsty Smith, who finished at the near post.
A third goal inside 10 minutes soon followed – Harrison ghosting in at the back post to finish a Joelle Murray free-kick.
Celtic pulled a goal back shortly before half time when Kelly Clark fired a free-kick high into the back of the net. The goal lifted the Glasgow side, and Kerry Montgomery fired a second on the hour mark.
Despite pressure on the home defence Hibs still looked dangerous on the break, with Lisa Robertson, Lucy Graham and Harrison all coming close with efforts.
There was to be no further scoring though, the team holding out to claim all three points ahead of next weekend’s trip to play league leaders Glasgow City.
