Scotland international Lizzie Arnot got the pick of the goals as Hibernian Ladies made a winning return from the international break, defeating Forfar Farmington 3-1 at Station Park.

Caroline Heron and Lucy Graham added the other goals as the Ladies made it four games unbeaten at the start of the Scottish Women’s Premier League season.

The capital side were electric from the start and Arnot had them a goal ahead after just four minutes.

Cutting in from the right wing, the midfielder bent a wonderful strike into the top left hand corner.

Just a week earlier, Arnot had helped Scotland Women take a giant step towards qualification for EURO 2017 with a 3-1 win over Slovenia and was again instrumental in a victory here.

The Ladies continued to dominate as first Heather Richards and then Captain Joelle Murray went close to doubling the advantage.

However, it was Forfar who then went close to scoring next, hitting the crossbar on 25 minutes with a header from a corner.

Arnot would have an opportunity to score her and Hibernian’s second, but she could only fire an effort straight at the goalkeeper before Claire Williamson dragged a shot wide from the edge of the box.

Hibernian would not have to wait long to add a second though.SWPL1 Forfar Farmington v Hibernian Ladies

Graham latched onto a through ball before finishing first-time into the bottom corner of the Farmington net to send Hibernian in two up at the break.

The Ladies wrapped up the game 15 minutes after the restart as Abbi Grant played in Heron to slot the ball past the Farmington ‘keeper to make it 3-0.

Farmington pulled a goal back 20 minutes from time, however it proved to be little more than a consolation for the home side.

Williamson and Lisa Robertson went close to making it four late on, however a series of good saves by the Farmington ‘keeper kept the score at 3-1.

Manager Chris Roberts was delighted with the three points that his side had gained at Station Park, especially given the danger Forfar posed his side on the break.

“We’re happy with the win today against a much improved Forfar team,” he said.

“They pressed well and were dangerous on the counter. We now look forward to Celtic next week which is always an exciting game.”
