Glasgow City started the 2nd half of the season with a bang as they hit 8 past Forfar Farmington to ensure their position at the top of the SWPL 1.

New signings Keeva Keenan and Haley Rosen both started the game and showed immediately the quality they will add to their new side with excellent displays from both.

Rosen proved provider for the first goal as her free kick was expertly headed home by Lauren McMurchie after 20 mins. Six minutes later Captain Leanne Ross finished off a terrific passing move to slot home into the bottom corner, before Rosen was provider once again, this time setting up Fiona Brown to make it 3-0.

A hand ball by the visitors allowed Ross to get her second of the match from the penalty spot and Savannah McCarthy shot home in stoppage time just before the break to give City a 5-0 lead at the interval.

Despite City making five subs in the second half, the quality and dominance remained and Erin Cuthbert finished on 46 minutes to make it 6-0. Half time substitute Julie Fleeting fired past McNicoll in the Forfar nets after a Hayley Lauder cross before Holly Napier missed from the spot for the visitors.

Fleeting showed her ruthlessness in front of goal once more on 74 minutes as she headed into the back  of the net to make it 8-0, finishing off a Leanne Ross cross.

It was a pleasing performance and result for Head Coach Scott Booth. He said, “As a team I thought we were excellent today. We created lots of chances and could have taken a few more, but overall I thought the performance was great.”

City are back in action next weekend away to Rangers as they continue the defence of the Scottish Cup.
