Hibernian Ladies sealed a place in the Semi Final of the SWPL League Cup with a comfortable 6 -0 win over Forfar Farmington at Station Park on Sunday. HIBERNIAN League Cup QF

Hibs opened the scoring after only 6 minutes – a driving run and cross from Lizzie Arnot diverted into the back of the net by Forfar’s Jade McLaren.

The lead was doubled minutes later when summer signing Rachel McLauchlan slotted past the keeper after collecting a Clare Williamson cross.

Despite the blistering start the Ladies had to wait until the second half to add to the score, with fellow new signing Abbi Grant scoring her first goal for the Club.

The fourth had a touch of fortune to the goal, with McLaughlan’s cross deceiving the Forfar keeper and sailing straight in.

Arnot converted from the spot on 70 minutes and Chelsea Cornet added a sixth moments later to seal Hibs’ semi-final place.

Hibernian are joined by Glasgow City, Aberdeen and Rangers in the latter stages of the competition.

Starting XI: Fife, Williamson, Robertson, Arnot, Ewens, Smith, McLauchlan, Graham, Murray, Richards, Brownlie.

Subs: Johnstone, Tweedie, Michie, Heron, Grant, Cornet, Harrison.

Sunday also proved to be a successful day for the Development team, who defeated Hearts 5-1.

Season 2016-17 promises to be a memorable campaign for Hibernian Ladies as they look to compete across the league and domestic cup competitions as well as returning to Champions League football.
