Aberdeen 23s 0 Raith Ladies 0
Report Raith Rovers LGFC
Raith won a much deserved point to take home with them, in a tight, even game played in incessant rain, so wet even the local ducks would no doubt have thought twice about venturing out.
A fairly non eventful first half had a couple of near misses, one at each end, including a McLachlan lob which bounced up and hit the bar and which somehow managed to stay out. Likewise at the other end just before half time the home side also hit the woodwork.
The second half saw more of the same, with neither side managing to break through with chances rare. A McLachlan shot skimmed just past the post, while Paterson almost sneaked in the back door following a defensive mix up. Late on, Dinnel almost won it for Raith but her shot, although fumbled, was caught just before the line, and soon after the game ended, scoreless.
This was Raith’s first no-scoring draw in 3 seasons, which was a reflection of a solid defence but also a very good Aberdeen team. Kara McIvor was excellent in midfield today, but overall this was a very good and structured team performance with strength in all areas.
Next game is next Sunday v Stirling Uni Development at Starks Park Stadium.
