Statement from Scottish Women’s Football – 17/05/17

In lieu of the media story today with regards to the Aberdeen v Spartans game Scottish Women’s Football issued the following statement to the media who released this story yesterday at 13.00.

“The fixture midweek in August (Aberdeen v Glasgow City) now cannot go ahead because the U19’s qualified for the Euros. As a result of this, Glasgow City were granted permission to play this ‘rescheduled’ match on Sunday 21st May. The Spartans v Aberdeen decision has not been granted a postponement because it is an original fixture date.”

It is factually incorrect that we did not issue a statement regarding our decision. Glasgow City were granted a change of date to May 21st due to exceptional circumstances. The Spartans v Aberdeen game was not granted a postponement as it was an original fixture date.
