RANGERS Women’s boss Gregory Vignal was pleased as his side ended the season with a win and a clean sheet.
Ellis Dalgliesh’s goal was the difference at Ainslie Park as the Gers beat Spartans 1-0 in the final game of the season.
Vignal said that he had set his side the target of ending the campaign with three points in the capital.
Speaking to RangersTV after the game, he said: “I am really pleased because it was a target since Monday and I told the girls we need to finish the season stronger to show our character.
“I am really pleased because it is another win, clean sheet and three points so I am really pleased with it.”
After a tight first half hour Vignal substituted Daina Bourma, taking on Rosie McQuillan and made a further two changes at half-time.
He explained: “The first one is about discipline that is why Daina has come off because she has to learn a couple of things, especially when you play for a big club like us.
“I am like this I am fair enough, I am very honest with everybody if there is something wrong on the pitch.
“In the first-half we played ok and we could maybe have scored one or two goals, but I changed a couple of things at half-time especially shape.”
Vignal was pleased for left-back Ellis Dalgliesh getting on the score sheet, as well as keeping a clean sheet at the other end.
He said: “I was pleased because she made a good run and was in the right place at the right time in the right moment and she scored a goal and I’m pleased for Ellis.
“She made two really good saves second half. I am really pleased with Khym because I think she all season has been injured for a while but she is a good goalkeeper and has great experience and she made a really good save so we finish the game
with a clean sheet.”
“It is really good for me and for the staff, the squad, the club because we of course lost against City, Celtic and Hibs but after it is 100 per cent wins.
“That shows something and we have finished with a goal difference of plus one if you look from July all the goals we have scored so everything is positive, clean sheet, three points and finish with a goal difference of plus one.”
