SWF Statement on Flip the Mindset FC
Flip the Mindset have informed SWF of their decision to withdraw from the SWFL WEST and SWFL Cup.
Having just been established for the short season in the first half of this year, Flip the Mindset was set up to provide a focus on the benefits of physical activity and teamwork to people’s mental health.
In correspondence with SWF, Flip the Mindset said that maintaining an active squad in the competitive pyramid had proved too challenging this season, and focus would now shift to local recreational football.
SWF applauds the ambition shown by Flip the Mindset in entering a team into the competitive pyramid, and the club’s vital work in highlighting the importance of maintaining good mental health.
However, this disappointing development serves as an important reminder that the competitive pyramid is a challenging environment which provides a route for players and clubs to move up the domestic game. Recruitment and retention of players must play a major factor in any plans to launch new teams into the pyramid and the sustainability of clubs must come into consideration with regards future applications to join.
As per the rules Flip the Mindset’s withdrawal from the SWFL means the results recorded in the SWFL West against them will be declared null and void. The league tables have been updated accordingly. The SWFL West will continue with nine teams.
