Statement on Glenrothes Strollers

Glenrothes Strollers have notified SWF of their intention to fold their senior teams and withdraw from Barclays Scottish Women’s League One.

After the exit of their manager and a number of players the club has worked hard to recruit but has indicated they do not feel they will be able to fulfil their place in the highly competitive national League One next season.

This means they will also be unable to field a development team in the forthcoming season.

SWF stands ready to support any player who will need assistance in looking for a new club as a result of this decision.

While unfortunate, the development allows both SWFL North winners Huntly FC and SWFL South champions Giffnock SC to be promoted, so the sides will not now need to play-off on Sunday for the third promotion slot. This game has therefore been cancelled.
