Elsie Cook autobiography published
Julie Welch is a Fleet Street legend. She was the first and certaintly the greatest of female football reporters working for The Times and The Guardian from 1973 onwards. Here is what Julie says about Elsie and her new autobiography, A Kiss Fae Pele
‘Elsie Cook is one of the funniest, most entertaining and admirable people I’ve ever met. More important than that is that thanks to her courage and advocacy in the late 1960s and early 70s Scotland’s women footballers achieved the recognition they deserved. This is her autobiography and I absolutely love it. Chapeau, Elsie!’
Elsie Cook is the reason some many young women are able to play organised football in Scotland today, and was recently inducted into the Scottish Football Hall of Fame.
