SWF announces Senior and Youth League Cup Final venues
Scottish Women’s Football (SWF) can confirm the venues, dates, and scheduled kick-off times for the 2021 Senior and Youth League Cup Finals.
There are four senior cup finals still to be played after Sutherland WFC clinched the SWF Highlands and Islands League Cup over Clachnacuddin WFC on Sunday 3rd October at Station Park, the home of Nairn County FC.
The Scottish Women’s Football League (SWFL) Plate and Cup Finals will take place on Sunday 21st November at the Tony Macaroni Arena in Livingston. The two finals will be played back-to-back with the Plate Final at 12:00 and the Cup Final at 16:30.
The following Sunday will see the first ever SWF Championship Cup Final at the Falkirk Stadium for a 14:00 kick-off. The Semi-Final draw took place yesterday and will see Rossvale or Montrose welcome Edinburgh Caledonia while Dryburgh Athletic host Ayr United.
The 2021 SWPL Cup will see the Semi-Finals hosted at Forthbank Stadium, on Sunday 14th November. Both matches will be played on the same day, game one at 12:00 and game two at 16:30.
This year’s SWPL Cup Final will be held at Partick Thistle’s Firhill Stadium, which hosted the 2018 Scottish Women’s Cup Final. The match will be played on Sunday 5th December for a 16:10 KO and will be broadcast live on BBC ALBA.
Aileen Campbell, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Scottish Women’s Football, said: “We’re delighted to confirm the senior activity for our upcoming league cup finals. Women’s football continues to thrive in Scotland at all levels, so it’s important that SWF provides the right environment for these big events. I strongly believe today’s announcement marks another positive shift as we grow and develop the game from our previous events, last held now in 2019.”
It has also been confirmed that the SWPL Cup Semi-Finals and all senior cup finals will be live streamed or broadcast.
“Our agreement with BBC ALBA includes broadcasting the 2021 SWPL Cup Final, which we are delighted by” added Campbell. “We have also arranged live streaming from the SWPL Cup Semi-Finals and all other senior cup finals.
“We as an organisation believe it’s vital that we grow the game on all fronts. We’ve seen based on past finals, we can have record attendances at stadiums while also promoting the game online or via broadcast to wider audiences here in Scotland and across the globe.”
Not only are SWF responsible for women’s football in Scotland, they also manage the youth game. In 2021, SWF is responsible for a total of 81 competitions and this is expected to increase in 2022.
Alongside the senior League Cup finals, each Region (Central, East, North, South East, South West, and West) has their own Youth League Cup Final events. These feature a variety of finals at the U13’s, U15’s, and U17’s age groups. The details for 2021 are:
