Kelty Hearts host national cup semi-finals
Kelty Hearts will host two thrilling Scottish Women’s Football semi-finals on Sunday in the Championship and League One Cup, SWF’s most senior league cup competition.
As part of SWF’s mission to engage with communities across Scotland, Fifers will get to see Ayr United face Dundee side Dryburgh Athletic at 12 noon, followed by Rossvale versus Renfrew Ladies at 4pm at New Central Park in Kelty.
Locals will be able to watch the games for just £5, with concessionary tickets £2 and free entry to under 16s. These can be purchased on the Fanbase app by searching Scottish Women’s Football.
Both matches look to be highly competitive. Ayr United are in a rich run of form, currently sitting second in the Championship and were semi-finalists last season, going out to eventual winners Edinburgh City. They will hope to go one better on Sunday as they face a Dryburgh side looking for a hat-trick of final appearances.
Also semi-finalists last year, Rossvale are the current Championship leaders, comfortably in pole position for promotion to the SWPL, and they will face a Renfrew Ladies side who ran them all the way for the playoff spot last season.
The Championship and League One Cup is in its third year and was set up to provide a high-level league cup competition for clubs sitting in the national leagues below the SWPL. Dryburgh Athletic lifted the inaugural cup in the 2021/22 season, followed by the now-folded Edinburgh City last season.
Commenting, Scottish Women’s Football CEO Aileen Campbell said: “I’m delighted we are bringing two major national semi-finals to Fife, offering girls nearby the opportunity to take in top competitive action. And with under 16s going free, it’s a great opportunity for families to take in exciting games involving good teams from Ayr, Dundee, Glasgow and Renfrewshire.
“The Championship and League One cup is a great opportunity to showcase the clubs who play national league football just below the SWPL, and spectators are sure to see some highly competitive action on Sunday.”
