#SWPLCup 2018 Round Up – 25/03/18

Spartans 0-3 Glasgow City
The six-time SWPL Cup winners, Glasgow City, progressed to the Semi-Finals after beating Spartans 3-0.
Their win will be marred by the fact that Abbi Grant had to come off after just 29 minutes due to an injury. She will be hoping that it does not keep her out of the upcoming Scotland squad.
City’s opener came six minutes before half-time after Kirsty Howat won a penalty, which was converted by captain Leanne Ross.
Hayley Lauder hit the crossbar twice and City eventually doubled their lead in the 73rd minute after a Joanne Paton cross was converted by Howat. Soon after, Paton herself got on the scoresheet after being picked out by Nicola Docherty.
Forfar Farmington 2-0 Stirling University
Forfar Farmington reached their second cup semi-final in six months after defeating Stirling University 2-0. They will be hoping to go one stage further than they did in the 2017 SSE Scottish Cup.
The game had to wait until the 33rd minute for its first shot, but it would not have to wait much longer for the opening goal. Robyn Smith’s corner was flicked on by Tammy Harkin, allowing Kayleigh Brough to stab the ball over the line.
Just before half-time, the home side doubled their lead when Cassie Cowper headed in her first goal for the club from Smith’s cross.

Hamilton Academical 0-3 Celtic
The 2017 SWPL Cup Runners-up, Celtic, reached the Semi-Finals after defeating Hamilton Academical.
Josephine Giard scored her first goal for the club in the first half to give Celtic a 1-0 lead at the break, and the German forward scored her second goal in the second half.
Soon after that, the visitors won a penalty after Giard was brought down by Amy Lindsay, only for Natalie Ross to have her spot-kick saved by Lauren Grant.
Just before full-time, Rachel Donaldson completed the scoring and made it 3-0 to Celtic.

Hibernian 1-0 Rangers
The 2016 and 2017 SWPL Cup winners, Hibernian, defeated Rangers by 1-0 to reach the Semi-Finals.
The Edinburgh side were able to name both Joelle Murray and Lizzie Arnot on the bench after injuries.
The only goal of the game came just before the hour mark when Lucy Graham headed in Emma Brownlie’s cross.
