Sarah Ewens scored twice in the last 10 minutes as Hibernian Ladies defeated Aberdeen on Sunday.
The striker came off the bench to hit a double as the Ladies look to apply pressure on Glasgow City in top spot.
Chris Roberts’ side looked to apply pressure early on, with early chances falling to Clare Williamson, Kirsty Smith and Abi Harrison.
Harrison in particular was posing a threat to the home defence, with confidence high following last week’s hat-trick against Celtic and international call-up. On this occasion however her efforts were off-target.
The deadlock was almost broken on the hour mark, Rachael McLauchlan cutting in from wide to feed Lucy Graham, whose shot cannoned off the crossbar.
Ewens entered the fray after 65 minutes, and with 10 minutes to go made the telling impact. A clever throughball set the former Spartans player free, and she calmly slotted home to give the away side the lead.
Smith came close to a second before Ewens killed the game off with two minutes to go, tapping home following a good pass from Lizzie Arnot.
Captain Joelle Murray almost added a third in stoppage time from another Arnot delivery, but Flaherty in the Aberdeen goal saved the header.
Highlights from Sunday’s match will be available to watch on Hibs TV early in the week.
