After a fine performance against Glasgow City in the league last week, Celtic turn their attention this Sunday to the Scottish Women’s Premier League Cup.
They have a quarter-final tie at K-Park Training Academy, East Kilbride this Sunday, when they face Hearts.
Although Hearts are in the Division below them in the Premier League set-up, nothing will be taken for granted as the Edinburgh side convincingly defeated top-flight Hamilton Accies in the last round.
The Celtic squad have had a good week’s training in preparation for this challenge, and midfielder Heather Richards can’t wait for what promises to be an entertaining match.
She said: “We are looking forward to the cup game this weekend as it is a competition as a club we want to win.
“We do know we can’t take Hearts lightly as they have shown in the previous round that they can put out teams in the league above them.
“We expect a physical and well-organised team and have been preparing for the game like any other match this season.
“Although we were disappointed with a draw last Sunday, and felt we played good football and did enough to get three points, it was a great boost for us with the performance and we look to build on it in the upcoming games, starting on Sunday.”
Reflecting on the recent player additions to the Celtic squad, she added: “The players we have brought in have really strengthened the squad and we now have the depth which we previously lacked.
“All of the new players have brought something different to the team and they have made the squad very competitive.”
And on her own and the team’s targets are for their 2017 summer season, she said: “The goals for this season are, of course, to go and win as much as we can.
“We believe as a squad we have the players and the support from the club to go as far as we want.
“My personal goal with Celtic is to win medals and titles and I truly believe we can.”
