On Sunday, if Scottish Women’s Premier League leaders, Glasgow City, can avoid defeat at home to second placed Hibernian, they will become the first Scottish top tier side, male or female, to win ten titles in a row.
Like Glasgow City, both male sides of the Old Firm have achieved nine in a row so far in their history, with the infamous ten so far elusive. That could all change on Sunday, when Scotland’s best women’s teams take to the pitch.
Two games in the SWPL remain, with Glasgow City currently five points ahead of Hibernian, who must win to keep the title race alive to the last game of the season.
Glasgow City Head Coach Scott Booth said, “We have a fantastic opportunity this weekend to win the League for ten seasons in a row, at home against our closest challengers. It has taken a lot of hard work to get here and we are ready for the final push.”
Glasgow City v Hibernian, Excelsior Stadium, Airdrie. Sunday 23 October. Kick Off 1pm. Entry £5 adults, Kids Under 16 go free.
