Turriff started this match with purpose and were unfortunate not to be 2 or 3 nil up in the first 15 minutes. The direct ball in behind the County defence was causing the visitors all kinds of difficulties.

The home team took the lead in 20 minutes when the ball broke loose after one of Turriff’s numerous corners. Riddell slotted home from 10 yards.

To County’s due they never gave up and their lively forward was not giving the home team much peace in defence. The return of Keith, Martin and Smith gave Turriff a much needed balance.

Turriff went 2-0 up when Waite slotted home after a pass over the top from Martin. D Cooper worked tirelessly throughout and found herself working both channels.

Against the run of play County scored when the home side failed to deal with a corner. Glennie got a foot to the shot but the ball found its way into the net. Prior to that she pulled off an outstanding save.

Turriff continued to play their way forward with midfield engine including MacQueen and Mcallan working hard. S Cooper and Robison joined the attack at times. The home side were awarded a penalty when D Cooper was fouled in the penalty area.

MacQueen slotted the penalty home.

Half time; 3-1

The visitors tired in the second half allowing the home team space to play some excellent football at times. Most of the second 45 was played in the County half.

Waite added to her tally when she broke free of the County defence after another ball from Martin found her free. The move started with the Centre back S Cooper winning a challenge at the back.

Riddell came into her game in the second half and broke free of her opponent to play a great pass wide to Waite on the right hand side. She drove a low hard clinical shot low into the opposite corner.

By this time Mcallan was causing havoc up the left. Great play out of the back by Keith, Smith, S Cooper and Robison allowed the midfield and forwards every opportunity to create chances.

The goal of the game when after a clearance from the County defence found MacQueen 35 yards out.She hit a screamer into the County net to make it 6.

County pressed forward at times but failed to break down a determined Turriff side. Bremner replaced D Cooper with 15 minutes to go and showed great awareness and movement.

Manager Pauline Harley stated after the game: ‘ It was a great all round performance today. It was only a matter of time before we got a result. The girls have been unlucky in previous league encounters. Today they made their own luck and went out with belief. We will continue to work hard and move forward’.
