A last second goal in the 99th minute robbed the Colts of continuing their 100% start to the season record.

In one of the home sides infrequent forays forward, a ball over the top bounced awkwardly for the defender Lynne Jackson to deal with and struck her hand. Directly from that free kick Thistle took the lead when Kayleigh Grieve’s strike sailed over McGann in the Colts Goal from 25 yards.

Cumbernauld, who’d had the lions share of possession restored parity ten minutes later. A ball forward bounced over the Thistle defence and Kim reacted first to slot past the home keeper. With half the first half still remaining the visitors pushed for a lead that never came.

Into the second half and the visitors were to take the lead with 10 minutes on the clock. A low driven corner found Laura Dickson at the penalty spot. She controlled the ball and opened her Colts account.

With a deserved lead the visiting side dominated the possession and chances created in the remainder of the half and it was a sickening blow to lose a goal at the death. Only coming away from the match with a point.

At the end manager McSherry bemoaned her sides wasteful finishing. We just weren’t clinical enough with our finishing and to only come away with a point is extremely disappointing to us, especially with the way we dominated that second half. Statistically it shows as a very on sided match. We tired late on and switched off when it mattered most. How there was 9 minutes of time added at the end of the half was beyond me. But, it is down to us how we deal with that scenario when it arises.
