Scott Booth’s Glasgow City side finished the first half of the season with an impressive 6-1 away win to Forfar.

Despite losing key players Leanne Crichton and Kirsty Howat in the early moments of the match, City produced a strong performance to ensure they go into the second half of the campaign neck and neck with rivals Hibernian for the League title.

Abbi Grant got City off to the perfect start on 10 minutes, netting a Hayley Lauder cross, before Jo Love made it 2-0 soon after. Forfar responded through Megan Robb, but within a minute Grant restored City’s two goal advantage to put her side 3-1 ahead at the break.

In the second half full back Nicola Docherty scored a screamer into the top corner, before substitute Maddie Hill netted her first goal for the club on 78 minutes. Lauder then completed a fine result for the visitors as she fired home Captain Leanne Ross’s cross to make it Forfar 1 – 6 Glasgow City.

The Scottish Women’s Building Society SWPL now goes into a short summer break, returning on 5th August when City will face Celtic at Petershill Park.

The Scottish Champions then immediately start their Champions League campaign as they host their qualifying group with their first match only two days after Celtic on 7th August when they face Belgian Champions Anderlecht.
