SWF statement on Forfar Farmington Development

Forfar Farmington have informed SWF of their decision to withdraw their development team from the SWFL NORTH after just two fixtures, one of which was forfeited.

In correspondence with SWF, Forfar Farmington said that despite only forming a development side a few months ago ahead of the new season, the team had struggled to field a side and the club would instead focus on its 18s pathway.

SWF applauds the ambition shown by clubs to reflect growing interest in the women’s game but this disappointing development serves as an important reminder that challenges remain when it comes to sustainability. Recruitment and retention of players must play a major factor in any plans to launch new teams into the pyramid.

As per the rules Forfar Farmington’s withdrawal from the SWFL means the results recorded in the SWFL North against them will be declared null and void. The league tables have been updated accordingly. The SWFL North will continue with ten teams.
