SWF national leagues set for thrilling climax as post-split fixtures revealed

The third and fourth tier of women’s football in Scotland are set for a thrilling climax, with promotion slots still being contested in the SWF Championship and League One.

The Championship has split into a top four and bottom five, and Glasgow club Rossvale sit in pole position for automatic promotion to the SWPL2, only needing a point from their remaining three games to secure the Championship title. They host East Fife at Petershill on Sunday 7th April, before visiting second placed Ayr United then Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

East Fife themselves will be hoping to catch Ayr United for the play-off spot, and they travel to Ayrshire on the 28th April in what could be an epic conclusion to both clubs’ season.

The bottom five will then have an additional week of fixtures to catch up their games with current fifth-placed Renfrew Ladies travelling to Aberdeenshire to face Westdyke on the final day.

SWF League One is set for an unbelievable title contest, with only six points currently separating the three teams at the top of the table. With five teams in each half, leaders Stenhousemuir will sit out the 7th April to watch second-placed Forfar Farmington travel to Bonnyrigg Rose and third-placed Falkirk host Edinburgh Caledonia, who just made the top five with a 6-1 victory against Dundee West last night.

With three promotion places to the Championship at stake due to Edinburgh City’s decision to fold its double-winning team mid-season, Bonnyrigg Rose will have an eye on closing the six-point gap to third. The Rosie Posey follow up their match against Forfar by hosting Stenny on the 14th April.

Stenhousemuir then host Forfar Farmington on the 28th followed by a local derby against Falkirk on the 5th of May, before concluding the campaign at Meadowbank against Edinburgh Caledonia.

Queen of the South, who only narrowly missed out on a top five place after last night’s result, also sit out the round on 7th April before visiting Giffnock on the 14th.  Airdrie Ladies sit ten points behind in seventh and visit Giffnock Soccer Centre themselves in their first post-split match, while St Mirren host Dundee West.
