SWF and s1jobs launch monthly award to celebrate good leaders in girls’ football

A new monthly Youth Coach of the Month award is being launched by Scottish Women’s Football and recruitment partners s1jobs.com to showcase and celebrate the best leaders and role models across the girls’ game in Scotland.

Players, parents and fellow coaches are being invited to nominate coaches who foster a positive environment at their clubs, to ensure girls get the most out of their football, and who display the values of women’s football in the spirit of fairness and solidarity.

The coaches with the most nominations every month will be named s1jobs Youth Coach of the Month and be featured on Scottish Women’s Football channels, provided they have kept clean disciplinary records.

Commenting, Scottish Women’s Football CEO Aileen Campbell said: “I am delighted that with our recruitment partner s1jobs we are able to showcase and celebrate the folk in girls’ football who give up their time to offer opportunities for girls to play the game they love, get healthy and develop as part of a strong team.

“Since I have taken this position I have been blown away by the commitment and integrity of so many volunteers who give so much to foster an encouraging environment with respect for each other and opponents. We often focus so much on sporting success we forget all this other good work that goes on as well, which is why we want to give them a chance to shine.”

Gavin Mochan, managing director at s1jobs said: “As SWF’s recruitment partner, s1jobs recognises that most of the people providing wonderful opportunities for young footballers also hold down day jobs and have full-time careers of their own. The skills and values girls learn at football will hold them in good stead for the rest of their lives in whatever career they end up in, and it is absolutely right that the folks giving them these skills for the future are recognised. We’re proud to be backing this initiative.”
