Statement on Armadale Thistle
Armadale Thistle have notified SWF of their intention to fold their senior team and withdraw from Barclays Scottish Women’s League One.
After being relegated to League One a number of players left the club and the management team resigned when the numbers became unviable. The club looked for alternatives but has now indicated they do not feel they will be able to fulfil their place in the highly competitive national League One next season.
This unfortunate development means Barclays League One will return to 11 teams for the forthcoming season, with one team sitting out every week and reverting to a top six/bottom five for the final round of fixtures.
With the 12th slot now withdrawn, the 11th placed team will still be relegated at the end of the season, allowing the four SWFL winners to be promoted.
