Scottish Women’s Football Awards return as nominations open

Nominations are open for fans to recognise the talent and commitment at all levels of women’s and girls’ football in Scotland ahead of the ScottishPower Scottish Women’s Football Awards in November.

Shortlisted by supporters and awarded by a select judging panel, these prestigious awards will culminate in a showpiece event in front of a star-studded audience at Hampden Park on the 29th November.

ScottishPower are once again title sponsors of the event, while the SundayPost returns as media partner.

Awards such as Youth Player of the Year and the Sunday Post Volunteer of the Year recognise grassroots heroes, while top stars will vie for SWPL Player and Coach of the Year in ceremony that shines a spotlight on success and recognises achievement both on and off the pitch.

And for the first time, fans have the opportunity to nominate a referee who has gone above and beyond to help support players and the women’s and girls’ game across Scotland.

Commenting, Scottish Women’s Football CEO Aileen Campbell said: “We’re once again delighted that ScottishPower have continued their unprecedented backing of the women’s game in Scotland by partnering our annual celebration of all things women’s football.

“This is sure to be a fantastic night, and I’m sure there will be many nominations that reveal some great stories throughout our game, from the premier league role models to the volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes to open up opportunities for girls to play the game they love.

To make sure your hero has a chance of being shortlisted, don’t forget to nominate via the SWF website.”

Keith Anderson, Chief Executive of ScottishPower, said: “It’s fantastic to be back as the main sponsor of the Scottish Women’s Football Awards for the third year – supporting and promoting the success and achievements of the women’s and girls’ game across the country.

“The strength of nominations and winners has grown every year, which is a real testament to the efforts of all the players, coaches and clubs around the country, from grass roots to those at the very top of the leagues.

“We’re excited to support the awards once again and are looking forward to joining all the nominees on the night.”

Nominations are open until 15 October and made via the SWF website HERE
