New leaders in both Barclays Championship and League One after latest SWF Super Sunday

Ayr United have gone two points clear at the top of the Barclays Scottish Women’s Championship after a 3-2 comeback win over Stenhousemuir, while Queen of the South are a point clear in Barclays League One after a 1-1 draw in Glenrothes.

Promoted sides Bonnyrigg Rose and Armadale Thistle faced each other for the first time in the Championship, and it would be last season’s League One top scorer Kyha McGurk who provided both goals in a 2-1 victory for the home side. McGurk scored 41 league goals for Armadale last season but made the switch to Bonnyrigg in the summer, coming back to haunt her former teammates, while Katie MacGregor scored for the visitors.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Dryburgh came back to rescue a point at home with a 2-2 draw against Rossvale, Forfar Farmington recorded an impressive 3-0 home win against Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Greenock Morton took an 8-1 victory from Glasgow Girls and Renfrew grabbed their first point of the season at the Falkirk stadium in a 1-1 draw.

In Barclays League One, Dunfermline Athletic lost the top spot after being beaten 4-1 by Cambusdoon in Ayrshire, with Srah Tait grabbing a brace. Airdrie Ladies CC took a 3-1 victory from Dunipace, Inverurie Locos dominated Hutchison Vale in Edinburgh 14-1, while Westdyke were also in the capital, rescuing a point with a 3-3 draw at Meadowbank against Edinburgh Caledonia. Elgin City came from two down at home to do the same against St Mirren.

It leaves the League One table with still only three points separating the top eight teams and St Mirren unbeaten in ninth place, underlining how competitive Scotland’s fourth tier will be this season.
