Edinburgh Caledonia go clear at the top of SWF League One  

Edinburgh Caledonia have gone clear at the top of SWF League One after a 5-2 victory over Airdrie Ladies.

The capital side seized the opportunity after Forfar Farmington and Falkirk played out a 1-1 draw in Angus in the early kick-off, and a Natalie Brown hat-trick was supplemented by an Eva Steele goal and an Airdrie own goal to move them two points clear of Forfar at the top of the table.

There were also first wins of the season for the bottom two sides, with Dundee West beating BSC Glasgow 1-0 and Giffnock Soccer Centre winning by the same scoreline over Bonnyrigg Rose. Stenhousemuir won 2-1 away at St Mirren.

In the SWF Championship, Rossvale remain in pole position for promotion to the SWPL2 after seeing off the challenge of Ayr United with a 4-1 victory at New Tinto Park.

Cameron had Ayr in front in the third minute, but Rossvale countered quickly with goals from Jemma McQuillan and Lynsey Holmes within the first ten minutes, before McQuillan added to her tally in the second half and a late strike by Tina Hill wrapped the game up for the Glasgow side.

Elsewhere, Inverness Caledonian Thistle claimed an impressive 8-0 victory over Edinburgh City at home, which included a Betty Ross hat-trick and doubles for Kirsty Deans and Julia Scott. Kayleigh MacKenzie grabbed the other goal for the Highlanders.

Renfrew Ladies got back to winning ways with a 7-0 win against Hutchison Vale, while Dryburgh Athletic beat Morton 5-1 in Dundee to move into the top half of the table, thanks to doubles for Derrian Gollan and Sophie Aitken and a goal from Clara Laing.

In the SWFL Cup, Dunipace and Cumbernauld Colts ended a 2-2 draw in Group F, as did Arbroath against Dyce in Group I. Glenrothes Strollers beat East Fife development 3-0 in Group C, while in Group J Stewarton United beat Cumnock Juniors 8-1 and Armadale Thistle thumped Dunfermline Athletic by the same scoreline in Group B.
