Raith Rovers Ladies 2 East Fife 2

This was a cracker of a game served up in the Stark’s Park autumn sunshine, with a draw probably a fair result between two evenly matched teams.
Raith stunned their visitors with an early goal with only 2 minutes on the clock. Young striker Ellie Eboji pressed high on the defence and after a defensive mix up Dinnel pounced on the loose ball to chip a left footed shot over the keeper into the net. More chances came for Raith, with Paterson heading over from a corner then Penman drilling a free kick just wide. Meanwhile at the other end, Zoe Moreland was solid at the back with some excellent defensive work keeping the visitors at bay, while Clark had to look sharp to clear a header off the line.
Raith started well in the second half and almost went 2 up when Carter played Dinnel down the right and crossed in for Eboji who smashed the ball off the bar but somehow it stayed out. However the visitors were coming more into the game at this point and equalised, but Beveridge and Carter then both had chances which went agonisingly close.
Smith in the Raith goal had to look lively with a fingertip save, then East Fife had the ball in the net after 65 minutes but the ref judged a handball had helped the ball into the net.
After 70 minutes the visitors took advantage of a scrappy clearance to take the lead, but then with 10 minutes left young Chloe Hunter latched on to a Carter through ball down the left wing. Her lightning pace gave her the space she needed and she unleashed a thunderbolt beyond the keeper’s reach into the net, a fantastic equaliser.
So probably a fair result, with some great young talent on show, including under 17s Ellie Eboji, Isla Beveridge, Courtney Porter and Chloe Hunter, with the latter two making their senior SWFL1 debuts with neither looking g out of place.
