#SWFL1 North: Dee Ladies 3 – 1 Dee Vale

Dee Ladies came out on top in this tight encounter on a windy day in Portlethen.

The early exchanges were fairly even, with both sides struggling to deal with an unpredictable surface.

Dee Ladies took the lead on 34 minutes when Vale failed to clear the ball and L Duncan found herself through on goal to finish low across the keeper. Davidson managed to get fingertips to the ball, but was defeated by the power in the shot.

The home side doubled their advantage five minute before the interval when Vale were caught in posession inside their own half.

A well placed cross from the right found McDonald who side footed home.

The away side almost pulled one back when Fielding raced through and managed to get a toe on the ball before the keeper. The ball rebounded at pace into the path of Bailey who was unlucky to see her effort land just wide of the post.

HT Dee Ladies 2 – 0 Dee Vale

Dee Vale came out of the blocks quickly in the second half, retaining more posession.

It was Dee Ladies who got the next goal, against the run of play.

The ball fell to Duncan in midfield who played a well weighted ball over the top for McDonald to neatly lob the keeper for her second.

Dee Vale continued to press and were almost rewarded for their endeavour when Gabba played a perfectly weighted through ball for Fielding who was foiled by the pitch as the ball bobbled as she pulled the trigger.

Sherriffs was next to be denied as her goal bound shot was cleared off the line.

Vale did eventually get the goal their second half perfomance deserved but it proved too, little too late.

Page played a long ball into the box where Sherriffs managed to get a vital touch to knock the ball into the net.

Dee Vale’s next league match is at home to Dundee City on Sunday 1st May.
