After a fantastic start to the 2017 season at the weekend, Scottish Women’s Football are delighted to announce a couple of new communication initiatives.

This weekend the Daily Record launches a regular weekly column within their sports supplement which will cover the whole of Scottish Women’s Football. This is the first ever major media deal for the Women’s game with a national newspaper. SSE have again shown their dedication to the women’s game by sponsoring the column for the 2017 Season.

Colin Banks, Head of Sponsorship and Reward at SSE said: “We’re really proud to support the women’s game, and this partnership will mean we’re able to reach more people, more often with the fantastic stories coming from clubs every week.”

Secondly, the BBC will be providing regular online coverage of the Scottish Women’s game. Their first piece was a detailed match report from East Fife v Hibernian in the SWPL Cup, as well as providing all the weekends results. Moving forward the weekly column will cover SWPL games as well as the journey of the Scotland squad in what will be an ground breaking year for the game.

Vivienne MacLaren, Chair of SWF said: “We are committed to promoting the game to as wide an audience as possible. It’s wonderful to see our players getting the coverage they so rightly deserve. We would also ask that readers and fans go and see a game, it’s the best way to support the teams.”
