The fixtures for the Scottish Health Action on Alcohol Problems (SHAAP) National Performance Leagues have been announced. These two leagues, under 15’s and under 19’s, sit as part of the ‘Performance Pathway’.

For 2020, 11 teams will enter the U15’s league and 13 teams will enter the U19’s league, an increase of six teams from the 2019 season. Both leagues will see each team face each other twice, home and away, to complete a 22 week (U15’s) and a 26 week (U19’s) calendar.

In the opening fixtures, U15’s reigning champions Glasgow City are away to reigning SHAAP National League Cup winners, Boroughmuir Thistle FC. Runners-up last season by just three points, Celtic, are at home to Lanarkshire Hibs who finished fourth.

The other remaining games involve new sides who are Aberdeen FCL, Rangers, Gartcairn, and Hamilton Academical. Third placed Hibernian host Gartcairn, six placed Kilmarnock are at home to Hamilton, whilst Aberdeen and Rangers meet for their opening match in the league.

Heart of Midlothian have a free week on the opening day but have an Edinburgh derby at home to Hibernian as their first match of 2020 the following Saturday.

In the U19’s league, last year’s top two meet on the opening Sunday as Aberdeen host Celtic. The Glasgow side clinched the league title on the last day of the season, finishing just one point above the North outfit.

Hibernian return to the U19’s league and will travel to face Glasgow Women on the opening day whilst seventh placed Hamilton Academical are at home to fourth placed Rangers.

There’s five new teams in the league for 2020 in the form of Hutchison Vale, Forfar Farmington, Kilmarnock, Spartans, and Boroughmuir Thistle. Kilmarnock will host third place Glasgow City, whilst it’s Hutchison Vale at home to Forfar Farmington, and an Edinburgh derby as Spartans host Boroughmuir Thistle.
